How did Anello Feeds First get started?
As a result of COVID-19, Chef John Vitale saw a need to feed healthcare workers and first responders who worked tirelessly in the fight against COVID-19, so he delivered individually prepared hot meals to area hospitals and by October 2021 he delivered over 48,000 meals.
What happened after hospitals went back to "normal"?
John's efforts were redirected and he pivoted to support local food pantries, to feed those individuals suffering from food insecurity.
Where do the meals go?
The hot meals are delivered to food pantries in our communities.
How is the need assessed?
The pantries compile a list of those in need and provide Anello Feeds First with an exact number and those meals are individually prepared so there is no waste.
Where does the funding come from?
Initially the funding was provided by John and his family with some support from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office. As time passed, some private monies came in when people recognized John's efforts. NOW, as Anello Feeds First starts to grow we will be running fundraisers to generate money to support a much larger effort to feed those in need, one meal at a time.
How do I donate?
Anello Feeds First accepts checks, cash, or most major credit cards. You can donate directly from our donate page on this website. Thank you in advance for your support.
What is the future for Anello Feeds First?
Remember, every non-profit started with a conversation and developed into what they are today. We fully intend to rival all of them, of course with your support and in-line with our mission statement "to provide, with dignity, hot meals to those in need in an effort to end food insecurity in our communities".
